Genie lives in Loveland Colorado with her husband Larry. They are the proud parents of six children, five boys and one girl. They are also the very proud grandparents of two granddaughters, one grandson and they are expecting their fourth grandchild in November 2009. Their son Dustin is in construction, Shawn is a jail deputy in Weld County and Megan is enjoying being a mom. Genie and Larry have three sons who are active duty military; Barry is a 1st Lt. (soon to be Captain) in the Army currently serving with the 10th Mountain Division in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, Erik is a Staff Sergeant and has done multiple tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom with the Army. Alex is a Senior Airman in the Air Force as a firefighter/EMT; he is also a volunteer firefighter with the City of Loveland. Genie counts many more people as part of her family.
Genie works as a dental lab technician with Master Craft Dental Lab in Loveland and also with Jackson Insurance Agency in Loveland. She would like to thank her employers for their continuing support of her commitment to American Military Family.
Genie enjoys all aspects of volunteer work. She is a Sunday school aide at Crossroads Church in Loveland. She has volunteered and participated in the Relay for Life for several years. Serving breakfast at the Loveland Veteran’s Club on Veteran’s Day is a favorite. Genie believes this is a small gesture to say a very big thank you to all the veterans attending. Genie and Larry, along with their family, have volunteered for Project One, through their church, to help others in their community.
Nothing quite prepares you for being a military family but Genie believes that although people’s situations are all different, there is a common bond between all military families.
Her passions are reaching out to other military families and opening the eyes and hearts of the community to the sacrifices, commitment and the needs of the members of the United States armed forces and their families.
“I am so honored and proud to be a part of this foundation. I believe strongly in the mission of this organization. Together we can accomplish amazing things to support our magnificent men and women in the military.”
